This Viral Cherry Vanilla Latte recipe is a delightful and refreshing twist on the classic latte, combining the rich flavors of cherry and vanilla in a low-sugar format. The homemade cherry syrup is naturally sweetened with allulose and can be customized with alternative sweeteners like coconut or regular sugar. Perfect for coffee lovers seeking a unique, flavorful beverage with a creamy texture, this recipe makes a perfect treat for any time of day.

Ingredients

Cherry Syrup

  • 2 cups frozen cherries
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/41/3 cup allulose (adjust to taste; can use coconut sugar or regular sugar as alternatives)

Cherry Latte

  • 2-3 tablespoons cherry sauce (from the Cherry Syrup recipe above)
  • 1-2 shots espresso
  • 3 tablespoons milk of choice (almond, coconut, or regular milk)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (regular or dairy-free)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Make the Cherry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the frozen cherries and water. Cook over medium heat until the cherries release their juices and soften, about 10 minutes. Then, mash the cherries slightly to release more flavor. Add the vanilla extract and sweetener (allulose, coconut sugar, or regular sugar), stirring to dissolve completely. Simmer the mixture until it thickens into a syrup consistency, around 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  2. Prepare the Espresso: Brew 1 to 2 shots of espresso using your preferred method. Set aside.
  3. Assemble the Latte: In a latte cup, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cherry syrup. Pour in the hot espresso shots. Add 3 tablespoons of your chosen milk and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  4. Add Extra Vanilla (Optional): For enhanced vanilla flavor, stir in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Taste and adjust the amount of cherry syrup or sweetener as desired.
  5. Serve: Serve the cherry vanilla latte immediately while warm. Optionally, garnish with a fresh cherry or a light dusting of cocoa powder for presentation.

Notes

  • You can substitute the sweetener used in the cherry syrup with coconut sugar or regular sugar based on preference or dietary needs.
  • Heavy cream can be replaced with dairy-free cream alternatives to make the latte vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust the amount of cherry syrup to make the latte more or less sweet according to taste.
  • Use almond or coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Espresso can be substituted with strong brewed coffee in a pinch.
  • Store leftover cherry syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
