Ingredients

Vegetables & Herbs

  • 6 large tomatoes (quartered)
  • 1 white or yellow onion (quartered)
  • 2 jalapeño peppers (halved)
  • 2 serrano peppers (halved)
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup cilantro (with or without stems)

Spices & Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • Sea salt or pink salt to taste (approximately 2 teaspoons)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a high speed blender or food processor, add the quartered tomatoes, onion, halved jalapeño and serrano peppers, garlic cloves, cilantro, apple cider vinegar, cumin seeds, coconut sugar (if using), and dried oregano leaves.
  2. Pulse to Desired Texture: Pulse the mixture until you reach your preferred salsa consistency, whether chunky or smooth. Be careful not to overblend for a chunky texture or blend longer for a smoother result.
  3. Adjust Seasoning: Taste your salsa and add sea salt or pink salt gradually, up to about 2 teaspoons, until the flavor is balanced and suits your palate.
  4. Serve and Enjoy: Transfer your fresh salsa to a bowl and enjoy immediately with chips, tacos, grilled meats, or your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • You can adjust the heat level by varying the amount of jalapeño and serrano peppers or removing the seeds for less heat.
  • Coconut sugar is optional and adds a slight sweetness to balance acidity; omit if you prefer a tangier salsa.
  • Fresh cilantro stems can be included for added flavor or omitted if preferred.
  • Use a high-speed blender or food processor for best texture and ease.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
