These Pear & Brie Cheese Salad Skewers combine the crisp sweetness of fresh pears, creamy brie cheese, peppery baby arugula, and crunchy walnuts, drizzled with a tangy balsamic glaze for a perfect bite-sized appetizer or light snack. Easy to assemble and elegant, they are ideal for parties or a quick healthy treat.

Ingredients

Fruits & Greens

  • 2 pears, cored and sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • Approximately 2 cups baby arugula

Dairy

  • Approx. 8 ounces brie cheese (~225 grams), cut into bite-sized cubes

Nuts & Garnish

  • Approx. 1/4 cup raw walnuts, chopped
  • Balsamic glaze, to drizzle (or balsamic vinegar as an alternative)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Wash and core the pears, then slice them into bite-sized pieces suitable for skewering. Cut the brie cheese into similarly sized cubes. Chop the walnuts into small pieces if they are whole.
  2. Assemble Skewers: On small cocktail skewers or toothpicks, thread a piece of pear, followed by a few leaves of baby arugula, then a piece of brie cheese. Repeat the layering if the skewers are long enough, or keep it simple with one set of each ingredient per skewer.
  3. Add Walnut Topping: Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the assembled skewers or press them lightly onto the cheese to make them stick better, adding a nice crunch and nutty flavor.
  4. Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze: Just before serving, generously drizzle balsamic glaze over the skewers. If you don't have balsamic glaze, lightly drizzle balsamic vinegar to add a tangy sweetness to the bites.
  5. Serve: Arrange the skewers on a serving platter and enjoy immediately as a fresh, flavorful appetizer or light snack.

Notes

  • Choose ripe but firm pears to ensure the pieces hold up well on skewers without becoming mushy.
  • Brie can be substituted with camembert or mild goat cheese if preferred.
  • For added flavor, you may lightly toast the walnuts before chopping.
  • This recipe can be prepared ahead of time but add the balsamic glaze just before serving to keep the skewers fresh.
  • Use toothpicks or small skewers depending on the serving size you desire.
