This creamy panna cotta infused with the rich flavor of instant coffee offers a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert. Smooth, luscious, and subtly caffeinated, it’s an easy-to-make dessert perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.

Ingredients

Dairy

  • 250 ml cream
  • 60 ml milk

Sweeteners & Flavorings

  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Setting Agent

  • 4 g gelatin sheets

Instructions

  1. Soften Gelatin: Place the gelatin sheets in a bowl and cover them with cold water. Let them soak until they become soft and pliable, which usually takes about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Dissolve Coffee: Heat the milk until just below boiling, either on the stovetop or in the microwave. Stir the instant coffee into the hot milk until it is fully dissolved to form a smooth coffee mixture.
  3. Heat Cream Mixture: In a pot, combine the cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Set the pot over medium heat and stir frequently to dissolve the sugar evenly. Once the mixture is warm and the sugar is dissolved, remove the pot from the heat.
  4. Add Coffee Mixed Milk: Stir the prepared coffee and milk mixture into the warm cream mixture until combined and smooth.
  5. Incorporate Gelatin: Drain the softened gelatin sheets thoroughly, squeezing out excess water. Stir the gelatin into the warm cream and coffee mixture until fully dissolved to ensure the panna cotta sets properly.
  6. Chill to Set: Pour the final mixture evenly into serving cups or molds. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours until the panna cotta is fully set and firm to the touch.

Notes

  • For best results, do not boil the cream mixture as high heat can affect the texture.
  • You can adjust the amount of instant coffee depending on your preference for coffee strength.
  • Gelatin sheets need to be fully dissolved in the warm mixture to avoid graininess.
  • Chilling time can be extended if you prefer a firmer set.
  • Serve topped with whipped cream or shaved chocolate for an extra indulgent dessert.
