These Mini Cheeseburgers are a delightful appetizer or snack, featuring seasoned ground beef patties baked to perfection and topped with melty cheese, crisp lettuce, tangy pickles, and a creamy ketchup-mayo sauce. Perfect for parties or casual gatherings, these bite-sized burgers offer all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger in a convenient mini format.

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 1 pound ground beef (450 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Assembly

  • 18 mini burger buns, cut in half
  • 9 slices cheese, cut into quarters
  • Pickles, thinly sliced
  • Lettuce leaves, rinsed, dried, and cut into smaller pieces

For the Burger Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup (or more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the patties evenly.
  2. Prepare Burger Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with onion flakes, salt, garlic flakes, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly with your hand (wear gloves if preferred) until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  3. Form Patties: Use a small cookie dough scoop to portion the mixture into 18 equal parts. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Roll each portion into a ball, then gently flatten into thin patties. Press the center of each patty slightly with your fingers to prevent puffing during baking.
  4. Bake Patties: Bake patties in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until cooked through. Use a food thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure safety.
  5. Prepare Toppings: While patties bake, thinly slice pickles if not pre-sliced, rinse and pat dry lettuce, and cut cheese slices into quarters for topping.
  6. Make Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and ketchup. Mix well to create a creamy burger sauce.
  7. Assemble Mini Cheeseburgers: Spread burger sauce over the bottom half of each bun. Layer a quarter slice of cheese, some lettuce, a baked beef patty, another quarter slice of cheese, and a pickle slice. Top with the bun half (optionally spread with sauce or ketchup). Secure each mini burger with a cocktail stick.
  8. Serve: Best enjoyed immediately while the patties are warm and the cheese is slightly melted.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use fresh ground beef with about 15-20% fat content for juicy patties.
  • Note 2: Cheese slices such as cheddar or American cheese melt well and complement the flavor.
  • Note 3: Thinly sliced pickles add a nice tang and crunch, but feel free to adjust quantity to taste.
  • Note 4: Iceberg or romaine lettuce work well to provide crisp texture.
  • Note 7: Using a food thermometer ensures burgers are safely cooked to consumption.
  • Note 8: Adding cheese both under and on top of the patty enhances the cheeseburger experience by layering cheesy flavor.
