This easy-to-make no-bake dessert perfectly balances sweet and tart flavors with a satisfyingly crisp base, making it a favorite for family gatherings and potlucks.

Ingredients

Pretzel Crust

  • 2 ½ cups crushed pretzels
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup salted butter, melted and cooled

Pretzel Garnish

  • ¼ cup crushed pretzels

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (combined from total 1 ¼ cups, using ¾ cup here)
  • 12 ounces whipped topping, thawed (from two 8-ounce containers)

Lemon Topping

  • 22 ounces lemon pie filling

Garnish

  • 4 ounces whipped topping, thawed (remaining from two 8-ounce containers)
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced into 12 slices (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pretzel Crust: In a large bowl, combine 2 ½ cups crushed pretzels, ½ cup granulated sugar, and melted, cooled salted butter. Mix until the pretzel crumbs are evenly coated. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish to form an even crust layer.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a separate bowl, beat 12 ounces softened cream cheese with ¾ cup granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in 12 ounces of thawed whipped topping until fully incorporated, creating a light and fluffy filling.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the pretzel crust in the dish. Then, carefully spread the 22 ounces of lemon pie filling evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Add Whipped Cream Topping: Spread the remaining 4 ounces of whipped topping over the lemon pie filling to create a smooth, creamy top layer.
  5. Garnish: Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup crushed pretzels evenly over the whipped topping layer. Optionally, decorate with thinly sliced lemon rounds for an attractive, fresh garnish.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 2 hours, or until fully set, allowing the layers to firm up and flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, thoroughly soften the cream cheese to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • This dessert is best served chilled and can be made a day ahead to allow flavors to blend well.
  • Keep refrigerated to maintain the crispness of the pretzel crust and freshness of the topping.
  • If a less sweet version is preferred, reduce the granulated sugar slightly in the crust and filling.
  • Lemon slices are optional but add a nice crisp fragrance and decoration touch.
