Crispy and flavorful Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Tenders made with a gluten-free breadcrumb coating, air-fried to perfection, and tossed in a spicy-sweet buffalo sauce with hot honey. Perfect as a delicious appetizer or main dish served with ranch and green onions.

Ingredients

Chicken and Coating

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken tender strips (about 8 tenders)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups gluten free breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for cooking the chicken tenders evenly and crisply.
  2. Whisk eggs and milk: In a shallow dish, whisk together the 2 eggs and 1/4 cup milk until well combined. This will act as the wet base for the chicken coating.
  3. Combine breadcrumbs and spices: In a second shallow dish, mix 1 1/4 cups gluten free breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon paprika, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder thoroughly to create the dry coating mixture.
  4. Coat the chicken: Dip each chicken tender strip first into the egg mixture, then into the breadcrumb mixture. For a thicker crust, repeat this dipping process once or twice more for each strip.
  5. Prepare air fryer basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated chicken tenders in the basket, leaving space between each for even cooking.
  6. Air fry the chicken: Cook the chicken tenders in the preheated air fryer at 380°F for 12-14 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
  7. Make the sauce: While the chicken cooks, combine 1/3 cup buffalo sauce, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 2 tablespoons hot honey in a small pot. Warm over low heat until the butter and honey melt and the sauce is smooth, then remove from heat.
  8. Coat and serve: Once cooked, let the tenders cool for a few minutes on a wire rack. Toss the tenders in the hot honey buffalo sauce until evenly coated. Garnish with diced green onions and serve with ranch dressing for dipping. Enjoy your flavorful meal!

Notes

  • For an extra crispy coating, double dip the chicken tenders in the egg and breadcrumb mixtures.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Adjust spiciness by adding more or less buffalo sauce and hot honey to suit your taste.
  • Use a meat thermometer to guarantee the chicken is cooked through to 165°F.
  • Serve with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese dressing for a classic pairing.
