Ingredients

Base

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk (plus more to thin)

Herbs and Spices

  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (minced)
  • 1 small garlic clove (grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Base Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform.
  2. Add Herbs and Spices: Stir in the minced fresh dill, chives, parsley, grated garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, fresh lemon juice, white wine vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Whisk thoroughly to ensure everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Chill the Dressing: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dressing for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and develop fully.
  4. Adjust Consistency and Flavor: After chilling, taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt if needed. For a thinner consistency, whisk in additional buttermilk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired thickness is achieved.

Notes

  • For best flavor, refrigerate the dressing overnight.
  • Adjust the thickness by adding buttermilk gradually.
  • Use fresh herbs for a vibrant taste. Dried herbs can be substituted but use about one-third the quantity.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Can be used as a dip for vegetables or chips, or as a salad dressing.
