Cooked on the stovetop for a juicy and well-browned finish, these burgers make a perfect quick meal served with fresh lettuce and your favorite sauce in a soft bun.

Ingredients

Burger Mixture

  • 400g Lean Turkey Mince
  • 2 Garlic Cloves (Crushed)
  • 1/2 Red Onion (Chopped)
  • Handful Chopped Coriander
  • 1/2 Red Chilli (Optional)
  • 40g Golden Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Medium Egg
  • 1 tsp Crushed Chilli Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 pinch Salt

To Serve

  • 4 Burger Buns
  • Chopped Lettuce
  • Your Favourite Burger Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Finely dice the garlic, red onion, coriander, and chilli. Using a food processor helps to achieve a uniform mince for the ingredients which will evenly distribute flavor throughout the patties.
  2. Mix the Burger Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the lean turkey mince with the crushed garlic, diced onion, coriander, chilli, golden breadcrumbs, egg, crushed chilli flakes, paprika, and salt. Mix thoroughly using your hands to ensure all ingredients are evenly combined. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs to achieve a perfect consistency for shaping.
  3. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round, flat burger patty with your hands. Ensure they're evenly shaped for uniform cooking.
  4. Heat the Pan: Place a large non-stick pan on medium heat and add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking and help browning.
  5. Cook the Burgers (Side One): Place the patties in the pan and cook for approximately 5 minutes until the underside is well browned and caramelized.
  6. Flip and Cook (Side Two): Using a spatula, carefully flip the burgers and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Ensure the burgers are cooked through and browned on the second side.
  7. Serve: Remove the cooked burgers from the pan and assemble each in a burger bun with plenty of chopped lettuce and your favorite burger sauce for a delicious and healthy meal.

Notes

  • If the mixture is too wet to shape into patties, gradually add more breadcrumbs until manageable.
  • Adjust chilli quantity based on your spice preference or omit for milder burgers.
  • You can cook these burgers on a grill or barbecue for an alternative smoky flavor.
  • Make sure the turkey burgers are cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F) to ensure safety.
  • These burgers freeze well uncooked; shape and freeze before cooking for convenient meals later.
