These Easy Pretzel Turtles are a delightful combination of toasted pecans, crunchy pretzels, and gooey milk chocolate caramel candies, topped with colorful candy melt drizzles. Perfect for a fun and festive treat that’s quick to prepare and visually stunning.

Ingredients

Nut and Pretzel Base

  • 50 pecan halves
  • 50 Snyder's Snap Pretzels

Chocolate Caramel

  • 50 Dove Milk Chocolate Caramels

Candy Melts for Decoration

  • 2 oz green candy melts
  • 2 oz purple candy melts
  • 2 oz yellow candy melts

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Toast Pecans: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the pecan halves in a single layer on a quarter sheet pan and toast them for 15 minutes until fragrant and slightly browned, then remove and set aside.
  2. Lower Oven Temperature: Reduce the oven temperature to 300°F in preparation for melting the caramels.
  3. Arrange Pretzels: Place the Snyder's Snap Pretzels in a single layer on a parchment-lined quarter sheet pan, ensuring the pretzels are touching each other to form a connected surface.
  4. Add Caramels: Unwrap the Dove Milk Chocolate Caramels and place one on top of each pretzel.
  5. Melt Caramels: Place the pan with pretzels and caramels in the 300°F oven for 5 minutes. Watch carefully so the caramels melt but do not overheat.
  6. Attach Pecans: Remove from oven and immediately press one toasted pecan half onto each melted caramel on the pretzel, pressing firmly enough to adhere but gently enough to avoid breaking pretzels or squeezing out caramel.
  7. Prepare Candy Melts: Place each color of candy melts (green, purple, yellow) in separate piping bags. Microwave each bag at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals until smooth and fully melted, approximately 3 minutes per color.
  8. Pipe Green Candy Melt: Snip the tip off the green bag. Starting in one corner, pipe in a continuous vertical zig-zag motion up and down each row until every turtle has green drizzle.
  9. Pipe Purple Candy Melt: Snip the tip off the purple bag. Starting in the same row but opposite end, pipe horizontally in a continuous back-and-forth motion across rows until every turtle has purple drizzle.
  10. Pipe Yellow Candy Melt: Snip the tip off the yellow bag. Starting in the original green corner, pipe diagonally in a zig-zag pattern across the pan until every turtle has yellow drizzle.
  11. Second Pass Green: Starting at the opposing end of the first green pass, pipe vertically again up and down the rows, giving each turtle additional green drizzle.
  12. Second Pass Purple: Begin at the corner where the first green pass started and pipe horizontally again in back-and-forth rows for a second layer of purple drizzle.
  13. Second Pass Yellow: Start in the original corner and pipe diagonally again in a zig-zag motion for more yellow drizzle coverage.
  14. Reheat if Needed: If candy melts harden while piping, place the bag back in the microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power to re-melt.
  15. Set and Serve: Allow the chocolate and candy melts to harden completely, then carefully break the pieces apart and enjoy your colorful pretzel turtles.

Notes

  • Ensure pretzels are touching to allow proper piping of candy melts.
  • Press pecans firmly but gently to avoid breaking pretzels or squeezing caramel out.
  • Microwave candy melts in 30-second intervals at 50% power to avoid overheating and thickening.
  • Reheat candy melts as needed during piping to maintain fluid consistency.
  • Use parchment paper on baking sheets for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
