This Easy Garlic Butter Steak Bites recipe features tender, flavorful beef steak pieces sautéed in a rich garlic butter sauce with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, paired with optional creamy Parmesan mashed potatoes for a complete and indulgent meal.

Ingredients

For the Garlic Butter Steak Bites

  • 2 good-quality beef steaks (sirloin or rump), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 100 g butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated or finely minced
  • 15 g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • A handful of fresh parsley, chopped

For the Parmesan Mashed Potatoes (optional)

  • 500 g potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 50 ml milk (approx.)
  • 2 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 30 g Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak Bites: Season the steak pieces generously with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder. This will infuse flavor into the meat before cooking.
  2. Heat the Pan and Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking, preparing it for the steak bites.
  3. Cook the Steak Bites: Add the steak pieces in a single layer to the hot pan. Cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until they develop a brown crust, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes for medium doneness. Adjust time based on steak thickness and desired doneness.
  4. Add Butter and Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter and minced garlic to the pan. As the butter melts, stir the garlic around with the steak bites to infuse them with a rich, aromatic flavor without burning the garlic.
  5. Incorporate Parmesan and Parsley: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the steak bites and toss gently. Add the chopped fresh parsley and mix well to combine all flavors harmoniously.
  6. Prepare Parmesan Mashed Potatoes (Optional): While cooking the steak, place peeled and chopped potatoes in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  7. Mash the Potatoes: Add butter, grated Parmesan, and milk to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy, adjusting milk quantity for desired consistency. Season with salt to taste.
  8. Serve: Plate the garlic butter steak bites alongside a generous serving of Parmesan mashed potatoes. Garnish with additional parsley if desired for presentation and flavor.

Notes

  • Use high-quality steaks like sirloin or rump for best flavor and tenderness.
  • Adjust cooking time for steak bites depending on preferred doneness and the size of the pieces.
  • Grated garlic releases more flavor and cooks quickly; be careful not to burn it.
  • Parmesan mashed potatoes complement the steak bites perfectly but can be omitted for a lower-carb option.
  • Fresh parsley adds brightness and a pop of color to the dish.
