The Crack Burger is a juicy, flavorful burger packed with cheddar cheese and a savory mix of ranch dressing and sour cream to create a uniquely rich and cheesy patty. Topped with classic fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickles, this burger offers a perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and savory flavors inside a soft brioche bun.

Ingredients

For the Burgers:

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 brioche buns

For the Toppings:

  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sour cream, ranch dressing mix, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix gently but thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated without overworking the meat to keep burgers tender.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into six equal portions and shape each into a burger patty slightly larger than the brioche buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.
  3. Preheat and Cook Patties: Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the hot surface and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.
  4. Add Cheese and Flip: Flip the patties and immediately place one slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese melts and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for safety.
  5. Toast Buns: While the patties cook, slice the brioche buns and lightly toast them on the skillet or grill until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the Burgers: Spread mustard and mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and pickles. Place the cooked cheesy burger patty on top and close with the top bun.
  7. Serve: Serve the Crack Burgers immediately while hot and enjoy the rich cheesy flavor with fresh toppings.

Notes

  • You can substitute ranch dressing mix with homemade ranch seasoning for a fresher taste.
  • Using 80/20 ground beef provides the ideal fat content for juicy burgers; leaner meat may lead to drier patties.
  • For extra melty cheese, cover the skillet briefly after adding cheese to each patty.
  • Optionally add bacon or sautéed onions for more flavor variations.
  • Make sure not to overmix the burger meat to keep the texture tender.
