A simple and delightful treat featuring ripe bananas dipped in melted chocolate and optionally topped with nuts, seeds, shredded coconut, almond or peanut butter, and dried fruit. Perfect for a quick dessert or snack that combines creamy fruit with rich chocolate and crunchy toppings.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Optional Toppings

  • Nuts (such as chopped almonds or walnuts)
  • Seeds (such as chia or sunflower seeds)
  • Shredded coconut
  • Almond butter or peanut butter
  • Dried fruit (such as raisins or dried cranberries)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bananas: Peel the bananas and cut them into halves or thirds, depending on your preferred serving size. Insert a skewer or popsicle stick into each piece for easy handling.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20 to 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water using a double boiler method.
  3. Dip the bananas: Dip each banana piece into the melted chocolate, making sure it is evenly coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off back into the bowl.
  4. Add optional toppings: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your choice of toppings such as nuts, seeds, shredded coconut, or dried fruit over the bananas. You can also spread a thin layer of almond butter or peanut butter on the bananas before dipping them in chocolate for a richer flavor.
  5. Chill to set: Place the chocolate-covered bananas on a parchment-lined tray or plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Once the chocolate is fully set, serve the chocolate-covered bananas immediately or keep refrigerated until ready to eat.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture and flavor.
  • Chocolate chips can be semi-sweet, dark, or milk depending on your preference.
  • Experiment with different toppings for varied textures and tastes.
  • For a dairy-free version, use vegan chocolate chips.
  • Chocolate-covered bananas are best consumed within 24 hours for optimal freshness.
