Ingredients

Chicken

  • 2 small chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning (or salt, pepper, garlic powder)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Bread and Butter Mixture

  • 1 Italian style loaf
  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (or garlic paste)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Alfredo Sauce

  • 1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Topping

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Cook Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into ½ inch pieces. In a bowl, drizzle the chicken pieces with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season with 1 tablespoon of poultry seasoning or a mix of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the chicken pieces until they are golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Prepare Bread and Butter Mixture: Slice the Italian loaf lengthwise in half. In a small bowl, combine 1 stick of melted butter, 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, and 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Toast the Bread: Spread the prepared butter mixture evenly on both halves of the bread. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes, checking after 5 minutes until the bread is lightly toasted and fragrant.
  4. Make the Alfredo Sauce: Using the same pan in which the chicken was cooked, heat it over medium-low heat. Add 1/2 stick of butter and let it melt. Stir in 1 tablespoon minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Lower the heat to low, then add 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese, and 1 tablespoon chopped parsley. Simmer on low, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Assemble the Garlic Bread: Spread half of the Alfredo sauce over the toasted bread halves. Evenly distribute the cooked chicken on top, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese. Finish by spreading the remaining sauce on top of the cheese and chicken.
  6. Final Bake: Return the assembled bread to the oven and bake at 350°F (175°C) for another 5 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and slice the bread into 2-3 inch pieces. Serve warm and enjoy this rich, savory Chicken Alfredo Garlic Bread.

Notes

  • You can adjust the crushed red pepper flakes amount to control the heat level.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • Use fresh garlic rather than garlic powder for best flavor in the butter and sauce.
  • Make sure to watch the bread while toasting to prevent burning.
  • Leftover garlic bread can be reheated in the oven for best texture.
