This Cheesy Pull-Apart Bread is a delectable and easy appetizer featuring a crusty sourdough loaf sliced into a cross-hatch pattern and stuffed generously with melted mozzarella cheese and garlic butter. Baked to golden perfection, it's perfect for sharing and sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 (16-ounce) Sourdough, Italian, or French Loaf (whole, not sliced)

Cheese

  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (approximately 8 ounces)

Butter Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)

Garnish

  • Chopped Parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the bread.
  2. Slice the bread: Cut the top half of the bread loaf into a diagonal cross-hatch pattern with 1-inch thick slices going in one direction, then the opposite, being careful not to cut through the bottom crust to hold the loaf together.
  3. Stuff with cheese: Gently stuff shredded mozzarella cheese into all the crevices of the sliced grid to ensure every bite is cheesy.
  4. Melt garlic butter: In a heat-safe bowl, combine butter and minced garlic and microwave in short intervals until fully melted and fragrant.
  5. Apply butter and garnish: Drizzle the melted garlic butter into the gaps of the bread and brush any remaining butter on the surface. Sprinkle chopped parsley evenly over the top for freshness and color.
  6. Wrap and bake: Wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to allow the cheese to melt fully.
  7. Crisp the crust: Carefully unwrap the foil and bake the bread uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to crisp the crust and develop a golden top.
  8. Rest and serve: Allow the bread to rest for a few minutes after baking to set slightly, then serve warm for an irresistible appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Choose a sturdy loaf like sourdough or French bread to hold the cheese and butter without becoming soggy.
  • You can customize the cheese by mixing mozzarella with cheddar or parmesan for extra flavor.
  • For more garlic flavor, add extra minced garlic or garlic powder to the butter.
  • Serve with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for added taste.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven wrapped in foil to maintain freshness.
