This Pepperoni Bread is a deliciously savory and cheesy rolled bread that combines the flavors of pepperoni, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, wrapped inside soft pizza dough. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or party treat, it features a golden, buttery crust seasoned with Italian spices and garlic for an extra burst of flavor.

Ingredients

Dough & Coating

  • 1 lb frozen pizza dough, thawed
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Filling

  • 6 oz hard pepperoni, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Lightly flour your work surface with the ¼ cup of all-purpose flour. Roll out the thawed pizza dough into a rectangle approximately 12x9 inches in size.
  2. Add the filling: Evenly layer the sliced hard pepperoni over the dough, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese and then sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese for an extra cheesy flavor.
  3. Roll the dough: Starting from one of the longer edges, carefully roll the dough up tightly into a log shape, encasing all the filling inside. Pinch the seam to seal the edges.
  4. Brush with egg wash: Brush the entire surface of the rolled dough with the beaten egg. This will help give the crust a beautiful golden color and shine once baked.
  5. Prepare the seasoning butter: Mix the melted unsalted butter with Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Brush this seasoned butter evenly over the top of the dough roll.
  6. Bake the bread: Place the rolled dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes to set. Slice into thick pieces and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute hard pepperoni with any small cured sausage or even salami.
  • For a spicier version, use pepperoni with added chili flakes or sprinkle red pepper flakes inside the filling.
  • Make sure the pizza dough is fully thawed to make rolling easier and prevent tearing.
  • Store any leftovers wrapped tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for a crisp crust.
  • If you want a softer crust, brush the bread with additional melted butter right after baking.
