Bang Bang Chicken Tacos are a flavorful and spicy twist on traditional tacos, featuring tender chicken breasts tossed in a zesty Bang Bang sauce made from mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice. Paired with crunchy purple cabbage and fresh cilantro, these tacos deliver a perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and freshness in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • pounds chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Assembly

  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 2 cups purple shredded cabbage
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Toss the cubed chicken breasts with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth and well combined.
  4. Coat the Chicken in Sauce: Reserve about ¼ cup of the Bang Bang sauce for drizzling. Toss the cooked chicken with the remaining sauce until the pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Warm the Tortillas: Heat the flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or microwave them briefly until soft and pliable.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Fill each warm tortilla with a handful of shredded purple cabbage, a portion of the Bang Bang chicken, and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. Drizzle with the reserved Bang Bang sauce for extra flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken breasts with chicken thighs for a juicier option.
  • Adjust the sriracha amount to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • For a gluten-free version, use corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas.
  • Leftover Bang Bang sauce can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with a side of lime wedges for added citrus freshness.
