This air fryer turkey breast recipe offers a quick and easy way to prepare juicy and flavorful turkey. Seasoned with a blend of garlic, onion, smoked paprika, and herbs, then cooked to perfection in the air fryer, it delivers a tender and perfectly cooked meal ready in just 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Turkey

  • 1 pound boneless turkey breast

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right cooking temperature before placing the turkey breast inside. Remove the turkey breast from the refrigerator about 40 minutes prior to cooking to let it come to room temperature.
  2. Prepare seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, dried thyme, kosher salt, and ground black pepper. Stir in the avocado or olive oil to form a seasoned oil mixture.
  3. Season the turkey: Rub the seasoned oil mixture evenly over all sides of the turkey breast, coating it thoroughly to infuse flavor and help retain moisture during cooking.
  4. Place in air fryer: Carefully place the seasoned turkey breast into the basket of the preheated air fryer, ensuring there is enough space for air to circulate around the meat.
  5. Cook and monitor temperature: Cook the turkey breast for about 30 minutes, flipping it every 10 minutes to ensure even cooking. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), which guarantees the turkey is safe to eat. Note that thicker breasts or cooking multiple breasts at once may require longer cooking times.
  6. Rest and serve: Once fully cooked, remove the turkey breast from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it tender and juicy. Slice and serve as desired.

Notes

  • Always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature for safe cooking.
  • Allowing the turkey breast to come to room temperature before cooking promotes even cooking.
  • If cooking more than one turkey breast at the same time, increase the cooking time accordingly.
  • You can substitute smoked paprika with regular paprika if preferred, though the smoky flavor will be less pronounced.
  • Resting the turkey after cooking is key to juicy slices.
