Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Chicken Tenders made with a crunchy breadcrumb and parmesan coating. These tender chicken strips are lightly sprayed with olive oil and cooked in the air fryer for a healthier twist on classic fried tenders. Perfectly golden and juicy, they make an easy and family-friendly meal served with fresh lemon wedges and dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 pound chicken tenders

Breading

  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup Italian style bread crumbs
  • ⅓ cup parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Finishing

  • Olive oil spray
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for cooking the chicken tenders to a crispy finish.
  2. Prepare breading stations: Set out three shallow dishes. Place the flour in the first dish. In the second, whisk the eggs until smooth. In the third dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs, Italian style breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  3. Coat chicken tenders: Dredge each chicken tender first in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb and parmesan mixture.
  4. Apply oil spray: Generously spray both sides of the coated chicken tenders with olive oil spray to help them crisp up in the air fryer.
  5. Air fry chicken tenders: Place the tenders in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each piece. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook an additional 5 to 6 minutes until golden, crispy, and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C). Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Serve: Remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce for a delicious meal.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for the best crispiness.
  • Use fresh lemon wedges to brighten up the flavor of the tenders before serving.
  • Feel free to customize the breadcrumb mixture with your favorite herbs or spices for additional flavor.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
