It’s ideal for serving with chips, tacos, or any Mexican dish, offering a fresh, tangy, and mildly spicy taste that rivals your favorite restaurant salsa.

Ingredients

Tomato Base

  • 1 (14 oz) can fire roasted tomatoes
  • 1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles

Fresh Vegetables & Herbs

  • 1 cup diced yellow onion
  • 1 cup cilantro, packed
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, diced

Seasonings & Flavorings

  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp kosher sea salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and measure as required. Mince the garlic, dice the yellow onion and jalapeño, and pack fresh cilantro.
  2. Combine in Food Processor: In the bowl of a large food processor, add the fire roasted tomatoes, diced tomatoes, diced green chiles, diced onion, cilantro, minced garlic, jalapeño, lime juice, and all the spices (kosher salt, sugar, cumin, coriander, black pepper, and garlic powder).
  3. Pulse to Desired Consistency: Pulse the mixture in short bursts until the salsa reaches your preferred texture — whether chunky or smoothly blended. Be careful not to over-blend if you prefer a chunkier salsa.
  4. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the salsa and season with additional salt if needed to balance flavors.
  5. Serve or Store: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a condiment, or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to a week to allow flavors to meld even more.

Notes

  • Use fresh lime juice for best flavor.
  • Adjust jalapeño quantity for desired heat level.
  • Salsa can be made ahead and refrigerated to deepen flavors.
  • For a smokier taste, use fire roasted tomatoes as indicated.
  • This salsa is naturally gluten free and vegetarian.
